For a cool wedding events planner extraordinaire Eddie Yacoubian from Eventing Edge suggests getting back to basics.

"My version of cool could be very different to yours," Yacoubian, an expert on chilled Champagne and equally chilled guests says. "With this theme I think it’s really just a matter of selecting a space that you think contemporary and has some cool aesthetics. Here I’m taking you to Brisbane and The Joinery."

With years of experience managing events for Tiffany & Co., Neiman Marcus, Paspaley, Cerrone, Aerin Lauder and serious A-list gay weddings.

Eddie Yacoubian is every groom’s best man.

"Behind the spectacular white metal lattice façade The Joinery is a warehouse style venue, with a sky-high ceiling, polished concrete floors and is located in the heart of the West End," Yacoubian says.

Launched in 2015 The Joinery is run by sister act Penny Culpo and Maria Nicolao who saw the potential for an industrial-edged space in one of Brisbane’s coolest areas.

"What I love about this space is that you are the architect of the cool, as the great bones are already there, so you just need to add your style. Don’t freak out though as there is an events team and a list of preferred suppliers to help you create your unique wedding celebration.

"Definitely the suspended festoon lighting works well though in this venue. One of the things I love about this space, apart from the stunning metal façade, is that it is air-conditioned (no sweats on the dancefloor) and that you can bring your own alcohol."

The Joinery can easily accommodate up to 300 standing guests and can pull together a 200 person sit down event.

Catering is exclusively supplied by corporate and private catering company Chez Nous Corporate with a kitchen on-site.

"Like anything you do when organising your friends and family, you need to give them plenty of time to get themselves organised and you also need that time, and then some, so get cracking," says Yacoubian.
