J.Crew supports gay marriage in style

US retail giant J.Crew has thrown its support behind gay rights with a new collection called Love First. Recognising LGBTQ Pride Month in America, 50 per cent of the purchase price will go to the Human Rights Campaign.
"At a time when LGBTQ people remain at risk of being fired, evicted or denied services in 31 states simply because of who they are, our fight for full LGBTQ equality is as urgent as ever," said HRC President Chad Griffin. "As we mark Pride month, we’re excited to launch this collaboration with J.Crew."
Taking part in the campaign is actress Zosia Mamet, InStyle editor Sam Broekema and his partner, urban planner Eric Riley.
"My relationship with Sam, which brings joy and comfort like I’ve never felt before and gives me strength that I’ve never had," was Riley’s response when asked what Love First means to him.
For Broekema the support of organisations such as the HRC, is crucial to the collaboration. "I grew up in rural Wisconsin and never imagined I’d be able to marry the man I love. HRC has helped make that possible."
The collection of T-shirts also includes kids’ sizes, predictably sending US conservatives into a tailspin, especially following the release of children’s T-shirts supporting Feminism
"@jcrew is pushing a line of children’s clothing that champions homosexuality, which cannot produce children, and Feminism, which kills them," Tweeted @ethosuncovered.
The result? The T-shirts are selling out fast. Get onboard and pre-order.
