Byredo Bibliothèque for bookish types

Everyone knows that reading is fundamental including perfumer Byredo, who have the perfect scent for bookish grooms.

Ben Gorham, the founder of the fragrance house, originally released the gripping combination of peaches, plums, peonies and patchouli as the candle Bibliothèque but avid readers wanted more.

"Bibliothèque is our most popular candle," Gorham says. "In response to endless requests, Bibliothèque is appearing as an Eau de Parfum."

The fragrance was developed to capture the spirit of leafing through a well-worn book- think Marcel Proust rather than JK Rowling.

According to Byredo: "A single spritz along the nape of your neck is all you need to capture the vibrant atmosphere of a world in suspension—one rich with the scent of ancient pages, of old, leather-bound books on dark wooden shelves."

Wear Bibliothèque down the aisle for an instant intellectual air that is more authentic than clear horn-rimmed specatcles.

Bibliothèque by Byredo edp, $275 (100ml) at Mecca
