It has been a week of firsts for Parisian luxury label Berluti with the opening of their Sydney store and the debut look from new creative director Kris van Assche.
The Belgian designer moved to Berluti from Dior Homme, designing the groom’s suit for French filmmaker Samuel Benchetrit who married pop star and actress Vanessa Paradis on Saturday. Paradis was previously the partner of Hollywood actor Johnny Depp.
Van Assche posted the navy slim line style to his Instagram account. “VANESSA PARADIS AND SAMUEL BENCHETRIT GOT MARRIED YESTERDAY IN PARIS. SAMUEL IS WEARING MY VERY FIRST CUSTOM MADE SUIT FOR @BERLUTI.”
Berluti began life in Paris as a shoemaker in 1895 before expanding into accessories and clothing. Last year it arrived in Australia on Collins St in Melbourne and now calls Sydney’s Westfield shopping complex home.
"Incorporating the brand’s new design codes, the boutique boasts an air of quiet, restrained masculinity," the announcement says.
"Wood floors laid in a traditional herringbone pattern have been given a modern twist with over-sized blond-grey planks. Plaster walls are hand-finished in a warm-grey tone to evoke the subtle effect of natural stone."
To mark the opening, Berluti released a range of patinas: Blood, Cambridge, Deep Black, Mogano and Nero Blu on the Un Jour Mini briefcase.
This smaller version of the classic Un Jour briefcase is available exclusively at the Sydney boutique, now.
